prelim etc.

A date has been set for my philosophy prelim on modern ontological arguments: Jan. 5. Most people will be gone then, so I might have to buy myself a drink :)

I submitted the prospectus for the prelim to my chair, Paolo, and he sent it back to me indicating there are too many typos. I am so oblivious to such things. I was hoping this would improve once I started ritalin, but oh well. It has had plenty of other good effects; I am losing students' papers much less frequently, I've managed to hold on to a single ATM card for over a month and I'm able to focus on reading like krasnoludek can focus on scrabble. These are good things.

I am not sure what I will be doing for Christmas. My dad will be with his boyfriend's family I think and my mom wants to visit her parents in AZ... not sure I want to drive all the way to Kingman.

That's all for now.

Math Poem Number 1

Hello Livejournal People. For my first entry I would like to share with you Math Poem No. 1 . I composed this gem while preparing for my final (and successful !) attempt at the foundations prelim. Fellow math (logic) bears, especially, should appreciate it.

Math Poem No. 1

I am happy to be studying alone.
Just Chang, Keisler and I...
so not really alone. Together rather,
for a night of bliss.
While they are massaging me,
I shall make indiscernible sequences my bitch.
